"Maintenance was a letdown, honestly"
I don’t know, maybe I’m being picky, but the room had a few things broken when I got there and it took way too long for anyone to fix them. It kind of felt like nobody really checked the room before letting guests stay in it. I was just expecting the basics to be taken care of, you know? Overall, it made the stay frustrating

"Rough check-in experience"
Check-in was a mess and took way longer than it should have!! The staff didn’t really explain what was happening, so I was just standing around confused. Definitely not the first impression I was hoping for.

"Felt Safe Overall, I Guess"
For the most part, the hotel felt safe and the security seemed decent. I didn’t have any major issues, but one hallway was really quiet late at night, which made me a little uneasy. So, overall it was fine, just not completely reassuring.

"Easy checkout, just a short wait"
So... checkout at the Shinola Hotel was easy overall. The front desk staff were friendly and had my bill ready quickly. I did wait a few minutes since there was only one person helping at the time, but it wasn’t a big deal. They also answered my question about one of the charges without making it awkward, which I appreciated. I’d stay here again.

"The shower was disappointing, lol..."
The shower was disappointing, lol. It barely got warm and the water pressure was weak, which was frustrating considering the price.
"Room felt a bit under-equipped"
The room was okay, but I was surprised there wasn’t a coffee maker. It’s a small thing, but it kind of felt like they made it my problem to figure out coffee in the morning instead of having the basics covered.

"Morning coffee was a bit of a disappointment"
I stayed here last weekend and overall the hotel was nice, but the coffee situation in the morning was not great. I waited quite a while, and when my order finally came out it was lukewarm (which is never the best way to start the day). When I asked about it, the staff seemed a little annoyed, so that made it feel even more awkward. It’s not the biggest deal in the world, but for what the stay cost, I expected the basics to be handled better...

"I stopped in thinking it’d be a quick..."
I stopped in thinking it’d be a quick drink, but it just felt like a waste of energy. I waited way too long at the bar, the drinks tasted watered down, and the staff seemed annoyed that anyone was even there. By the time I left, I was more irritated than relaxed. Definitely not worth the stop

"The WiFi Was an Absolute Nightmare"
The WiFi kept cutting out all night, and it was maddening. I was just trying to load my email in my room, and even that felt impossible.

"Bathroom was fine, just not super impressive"
I stayed here and the bathroom was kind of a mixed bag, haha. It looked nice overall and the shower was decent, but the sink area felt a little cramped and the drain was slow. The towels were clean though, so that was good. Not bad by any means, I just expected it to feel a bit nicer for the price.

"Room cleanliness really needs attention"
I was disappointed with the room. There was hair in the bathroom, the shelves were dusty, and the sheets just didn’t feel fresh. For what they’re charging, I think most guests would expect the basics to be taken care of a lot better. I mentioned it to the front desk, but nothing really changed, which made the stay even more frustrating.

"Still haven’t heard back"
I’m not really sure what else to say... I emailed them twice and even called once, but I still haven’t gotten any response. Kind of disappointing, honestly.

It was a nice place overall, but honestly... I didn’t feel like it was worth the price. Not bad, just more expensive than it should be!

We had a good experience here for our event overall. The place was nice and everything went smoothly, but it did feel a bit crowded. I kind of wish we’d planned around a quieter time, but it was still a solid spot.

"Concierge kind of let us down"
We were really hoping the concierge could help us with a few things during our stay, but they just weren’t very helpful. Maybe it was a busy day or there was something else going on, but we left feeling disappointed.

"Too loud to get any sleep"
I really couldn’t sleep here because it was way too loud at night. I ended up having to explain the noise issue more than once, which got frustrating fast. Not exactly the restful stay I was hoping for.

"Dining was okay, but I’m not sure I’d go back"
I stayed here and decided to try the food, it was a bit of a letdown. I’ll give them credit that the service was polite and nobody was rude, but the actual meal didn’t really live up to what I expected from a hotel like this. The food came out a little cold, and the flavor was just kind of average, especially for the price. Maybe I caught them on an off day, but I’d probably look for somewhere else to eat next time...

"Not as convenient as I hoped"
I thought the location would be a lot easier to deal with, but it was kind of annoying. We ended up having to walk everywhere, and in the cold, that got old fast—really fast. It just wasn’t as convenient as I expected

"Pet-friendly on paper, but not in practice"
I booked this place because we were traveling with our dog, but it didn’t feel all that pet-friendly once we got there. The fees ended up being more than I expected, and it felt like the terms had changed from what I thought I was agreeing to when I booked. There also wasn’t much guidance on where to walk him or any nearby pet-friendly spots. The staff were polite enough, but overall it felt more like pets are technically allowed, not actually welcomed

"Pretty frustrating with a screen reader"
I had a hard time using this with my screen reader. A bunch of the buttons weren’t labeled, so I kept having to guess what this or that was supposed to do. Trying to book ended up taking way longer than it should’ve, and it was just really frustrating...
